
Limestone Mines
In the Limestone Mines of Mønsted you find the largest wintering grounds for bats in Northern Europe, and during the opening hours you can watch a video show about the history of the mine.
In the Limestone Mines of Daugbjerg you can go down in the long dark galleries where the gipsies lived over 300 years ago.

Discover the hiding place of the notorious robber Jens Langkniv (Longknife) in the limestone mines with 1 km of lit up underground passages, 60 meters under the earth.
The caves are the largest winter hibernation site for bats in Denmark and the bats are best seen in spring and autumn, when they fly in and out.
There are treasure hunts for children every day in the twisting mine passages.

The world's largest limestone mine. An endless maze of galleries with caves as large as cathedrals and narrow paths where an adult man cannot walk upright.
An enormous 60 km labyrinth of passageways with caverns as large as a cathedral, and narrow tunnels where you have to walk doubled up. 2 km of the passageways are lit. A multi-media presentation shows the history of the mines. Exhibitions and films tell about bats, geology and mining.
Groups are granted admission all the year round with prior reservation.
Guided tours in Danish, English and German can be arranged.
